"Slip this bingo bill on them"

While Republicans were stalling Tuesday night, state Sen. Bobby Singleton said he would try to bring up some controversial legislation if Republicans were not on the chamber floor working. He encouraged his colleagues to pass the budget and not stall.

"I'm going to slip this bingo bill on them if they don't get back," Singleton said of his Greene County local bingo legislation.

Singleton is a Democrat from Greensboro. He has fought for the legislation, saying it is a local bill that will help the people he represents. Opponents have claimed it would be an expansion of gambling in the state.
