Sparks to announce in Montgomery on Friday
Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks will announce his intentions for 2010 during a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Friday on the steps of the State Archives Building. He has events planned in other Alabama cities including Huntsville, Birmingham and his hometown of Fort Payne.
Sparks, a Democrat, is expected to announce he is running for governor or lieutenant governor. He has said he will not run against Jim Folsom Jr., who said Wednesday he was running for reelection as lieutenant governor.
Sparks is in his second term as agriculture commissioner and cannot run for a third consecutive term.
