Businessman to run for PSC

Chris "Chip" Beeker, a former Greene County commissioner, has announced he will run for the Place 1 seat on the Public Service Commission in 2010.
The commission has oversight of utilities in the state.
The Republican said he will fight for fair rates for consumers "while balancing the rights of the people with the responsibilities of the utilities."
Beeker was chairman of the Greene County Commission from 1996 to 2000.
He owns and operates Beeker Catfish and Cattle Farms in Eutaw.
